Senior Men

Well, another football year has come to an end and what a year it has been.  Four in a Row County Champions and through to an Ulster Club Final.  Things might not have gone our way on Sunday, but it wasn’t for the want of trying.  They never gave up.  They kept battling to the end – as they always do and that’s all you can ask.  To our players and managers, we thank you.  We thank you for your time, your effort and most of all your commitment to your club and community.  To the supporters and community – thank you all for your enthusiasm, your effort and your support throughout the year.  Bring on 2019  – An Bhoth Abu

Philly McMahon Talk

Thanks to all of you (nearly 600 !!) who came out and supported our talk by Philly McMahon on Wed 28th November in the Complex.  Sgt Mick Kearney (Cavan/Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit) and Colin McAree (Area Manager, Foroige) also talked on the night about how easily accessible drugs are and how they are starting to become the norm.  They also talked about how we can teach our children about the detrimental affect drugs can have, but we also need to teach them how to deal with a situation if they find themselves in it.   Philly gave us an insight into what it was like growing up in a block of flats in Ballymun where people from “posher” areas (known as the “poshees”)used to come to buy their drugs and how the choices you make and not where you come from, can determine your future. He also talked about staying positive and taking the good as well as the bad in life.  I think everyone will agree it was a great night and very informative.  I hope you all took something from it and would like to congratulate all involved.  We would also like to congratulate Philly McMahon on his recent engagement!!
