Well, our Senior Ladies have hung up their boots for this season – but not before giving us one of the best years of Ladies Football the club has seen. To the Ladies and Managmeent, we thank you. We thank you all for the time, effort and commitment you have put in to both your game and your club.
Last Saturday, was not by any means, a true reflection of your capabilities – it is something for you all to take and build from, and we are 100 percent sure you will all be back better and stronger next year.
You have done yourselves and your jersey proud !!
On a sunny Sunday afternoon in October in Clones, we found ourselves after 70 mins of football, into an Ulster Club Quarter Final.
It was touch and go for a right while in the first half with Derrygonnelly getting the first point of the game in the first minute. It took us a while to respond but Orin Heaphey scored a great point in the 8th. It was pretty much point for point for a while and we had edged ahead by 2 points by when Derrygonnelly got a goal from a Penalty putting them 1 point ahead. We held our heads and responded well, leveling the game again in the 21st minute. Derrygonnelly had edged ahead by 2 points by the 23rd minute, but we fought back and both teams were 9 points a piece at half time.
The Second Half – was a different ball game altogether. Kieran Hughes got the first of four points in 3 minutes but Derrygonnelly dug deep and took the deficit back to 2 by the 11th. We however, just had the ability and determination to keep going and with an outstanding goal from Ross McKenna in the 26th and another from Damian McArdle in the 29th, our fate was sealed. Final Score Scotstown 2-17, Derrygonnelly 1-11.
Team on the Day: Rory Beggan (0-2), Brendan Boylan, Ryan O’Toole (0-1), Damien McArdle (1-1), Jack McDevitt (0-1), Donal Morgan, Emmet Caulfield, Frank Caulfield, Kieran Hughes (0-2), Francis Maguire, Conor McCarthy (0-5), Jamie McCarey, Shane Carey (0-3), Darren Hughes, Orin Heaphey (0-2)

Our U17’s were unfortunately beaten in the Mallon’s Food Shield Final on Sunday in Blackhill by a very strong Magheracloone side.
These lads are a great group of lads who came up against some strong opposition throughout their season this year. They never gave up though and gave 110 percent in every game. Thanks to you all and to your management team – onwards and upwards for next year.

“Make your Céilí”
Hope everyone is getting ready to “Make your Céilí” for the two weeks starting 28th November. It doesn’t only have to be for two weeks – it can be for as long as we want it to be. Did you know that a survey of older people living alone said the one thing they found the hardest was the loneliness. An hour a week or half hour twice a week is really not a lot to ask to go out and visit someone – it could be someone living alone, an older couple, someone who is sick or a new mum who would even like 10 mins to be able to go for shower or simply a neighbour or friend who you would just like to catch up with So, lets all get out there and “Make your Céilí”. It could make a difference.
