The girls had a strong game against Sean McDermotts on Saturday 22nd and were the winners at the final whistle. All roads now lead to Fanad on Saturday for the Quarter Finals of the Ulster Junior Club Championship where they will meet the Donegal Junior Champions – Fanad Gaels @ 2pm in Páirc Uí Shiadhail, Portsalon. The last time the ladies were in the Ulsters was in 2010. They have gotten this far by beating St Bridgets, Sean McDermotts and Killanny. It would be great to see as many people go up and support the ladies on Saturday, as Fanad Gaels have home advantage. Why not make a day of it – Port Salon beach was voted 2nd most beautiful in the world by the Observer. Good Luck Ladies !!
The Seniors were victorious on Sunday as they overcame a very strong Magheracloone side. We had a strong start when points from Orin Heaphey, Shane Carey & a Francis Maguire goal put us 1-4 to 0-0 ahead. A Magheracloone goal and another quick point put them straight back in the game with just 3 points between the sides. We kept them at bay until another goal in the 19th minute put just a point between us. It was point for point for the remainder of the first half and the score was 1-10 to 2-5 going in at half time. Rory Beggan slotted one between the posts in the 1st minute of the 2nd half and we pretty much kept the deficit to 3 points or more for the remainder of the game. Magheracloone kept coming back though managing to score 6 points in the 2nd half. It was a tough battle but we were victorious in the end with a Final Scoreline of Scotstown 1-17 to Magheracloone 2-11. This means we are now in our 6th consecutive Senior Football Club Championship with old rivals Ballybay and what an honour this is. Its going to be a tough battle – but hopefully has the makings of a great game of football.
There are 2 Shoe City Senior League fixtures listed for this week. We have an away game against Castleblayney listed for 8pm on Wednesday 26th and an away game to Magheracloone down for Saturday 29th @5.30pm
Paint the Parish Blue !!
To Celebrate the fact that our Senior Ladies are in the Quarter Final of the Ulster Club Junior Championship and our Senior Men are in the Senior Football Championship Final – we are running a competition. Yes Folks – you may have guessed it by the title – Paint the Parish Blue – we want to see anything adourned, painted, dressed up, made up etc etc in the Scotstown Colours – any Shed, Dog House, House, Car – anything that moves (or breathes for that matter !!). We will have incognito judges roaming the length and breadth of the parish. Send your pic by messenger to the Scotstown Facebook page. We will be announcing the winner @ the Big Breakfast. Put your creative hats on and lets get decorating !!!
Come along and fill up before the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship on Sunday 7th October between 9.30 and 12.30 in the Complex for our Big Breakfast. Its a great way to meet people before the game and have a bit of banter and get everyone in the mood for the Final.
The Juniors were victorious over Aughnamullen on Saturday with a Final Score of Scotstown 1-20, Killeevan 0-09. So we should now be in the playoffs for a Final spot !!
