The Seniors played Clontibret away last Saturday. A strong all round performance saw the lads 1-07 to 0-02 up after 16 minutes when Paul Sherlock scored his second goal in two matches. Paul palmed the ball into the net after Conor McCarthy had weaved his way through the defence and fisted the ball across the square. With the score 1-12 to 0-04 at half time. Darren Hughes was replaced by Ross McKenna. The second half resumed with Clontibret scoring the first two points but, relays from Conor McCarthy and Kieran Hughes brought things back to where they were. Final Score Scotstown 1-19 Clontibret 0-09. Next Senior outing is at home to Latton @7.45 Friday 11th May. Team: Rory Beggan, Paul Sherlock, Mark Duffy, Damien McArdle, Brendan Boylan, Donal Morgan, Emmet Caulfield, Darren Hughes, (Ross McKenna), Frank Caulfield, Jamie McCarey, Kieran Hughes, James Hamill, Shane Carey, Conor McCarthy, Dermot McCrudden.
The Junior Team recorded a victory over Truagh in the preliminary round of the Junior Championship in Emyvale last Sunday. Letting a 7 point lead slide, they had to pull out all the stops in extra time to secure victory. As a result of some wayward shooting in the first, the lads had only 4 points to spare at half time. Showing what they were capable of, they stretched the lead out to 7 points. With ten minutes to go, a couple of points and then a goal from Truagh showed what they were capable of. The next score was Truagh’s and the game was level. Into injury time, Scotstown got a free wide on the right outside the 45. Up steps Conor Forde and he clips straight at the black spot. The Truagh keeper rose off his line and took the ball from over the bar to ensure the game stayed level. Scotstown got off to a strong start in extra time and scored 4 points to Truagh’s 2, for a final score of Scotstown 1-15, Truagh 1-13. Conor Forde supplying 3 points and Jason Carey the other extra time sc ore. Team: Conor Ford, Kieran McGuirk, Barry McMeel, Lorcan Murray, Caolan McElwaine, Jack Turley, Jack McDevitt, Ryan Caulfield, Rory McKenna, Jason Carey, Mark Treanor, Tommy Moyna, Rory Sheehan, Cian Mohan, Brian McGinnity.
