Scotstown recorded their first ever opening day win in the junior league this evening when they overcame Corduff in chilly conditions. Scotstown started the brightest and raced into a 4 point lead thanks to 2 points from Jamie McCarey, Emmett McCrudden and debutant Shane McMahon. Corduff replied with a free before Mark McDevitt pounced on a long ball to get a fist to smash it to the Corduff net. Tommy Moyna kicked 2 superb scores before Corduff finished the half the strongest kicking 3 unanswered points to leave it 1-6 to 1-4 to the blues.

Scotstown began the 2nd half like they started the game and piled on early pressure which resulted in 3 Jamie McCarey points, one from a free. Corduff began to rally and their direct long ball game caused the full back line problems. They kicked the next 4 scores leaving it 1-9 to 0-8 entering the last 10 minutes. Mark McDevitt kicked a point from play to leave 5 between the sides as the clock approached 60 minutes. Corduff replied with a point before a last grasp goal from a free on the 13m line in front of the goalposts resulted in Scotsown hanging on for a slender 1 point win on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-9.
