Scotstown GAA Club Notes. 11/02/2020
Our Blues in County Football Action
Allianz Division 1 National Football League
Well done to our Senior Men playing for Monaghan in their enthralling game against
the All Ireland Champions Dublin in the Round 3 of the National Football League in
Croke Park on Saturday night last, despite the horrendous weather. The game
finished 1-15 apiece, but Monaghan had a 9-point wind assisted lead at half time and
overall it was a fine performance by the whole team and boosts their confidence
going into a tricky home fixture against Mayo in Clones in the weekend after next
(Saturday 23 rd February). More details on this fixture in next week’s notes.
U20 Monaghan Men
All the best to our U20 men Mattie Maguire, Michael Meehan, Gavan McPhillips and
Ryan O’Toole and the rest of the Monaghan team this Saturday in the 2020 Ulster
GAA Football U20 Championship Quarter Final against Donegal in Ballybofey this
Saturday at 2:00pm.
Ladies Senior County National Football League
Hard Luck to the Monaghan Ladies, who battled hard in tough conditions against
storm Ciara. A very cold, wet and windy say seen the Monaghan ladies earn their
first loss against Meath away by 1-13 to 0-09 on Sunday last in the National Football
League Division 2.
They next play Cavan on Sunday 23 rd February at 12:00pm in Clones. All the best to
our Blue Ladies; Edel Corrigan, Abbie McCarey, Hannah Sherlock and Casey
Treanor.
Safe journey to everyone travelling to the above games.

RTE Operation Transformation – Ireland Lights Up Walk. Don’t worry if you missed
any of the first 5 Thursday nights, sure come and join us between 7pm and 9pm if

evenings in a safe and well-lit area to go for a walk in the evenings.
This is the 6 th of 8 weekly walks which will happen every Thursday to early March.
Scotstown GAA Health and Well-being has joined up with Ireland Lights Up 2020 in
partnership with RTE Operation Transformation and are encouraging everyone
young and old, especially families, to get Ireland walking at Kilmore 7 o clock for
eight weeks every Thursday. Please promote and encourage players and parents
and grandparents or anyone you know to get involved.
It would be great to maintain the consistent big turnout as this would encourage
others to join in and see that Scotstown GAA is not just all about football but also the
community. Thanks to everyone involved from the organisers to the admin people of
counting numbers, the car parking stewards who always keep a perfect free flowing
of traffic in any condition and the people who joined in on the track. Well done
everyone!
