Ladies Intermediate Championship 2020 Review
In an attempt to develop teams and to ensure plentiful football for all, the senior and intermediate divisions were joined at the start of the year. Scotstown ladies began their year on a promising note, with an influx on new faces joining the squad. A new management team were welcomed in Declan Stirrat, Shane Rice, Martina Gray, Anita Harvey, Lisa Flynn and Pauline Keenan. Scotstown ladies commenced their second year in the intermediate division with narrow defeat to senior team Emmet Og. The new two tiered competition was currently short due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The ladies continued training over the football shut down with running the roads and weekly zoom classes. After the reset matches began promptly with challenge games and a new knockout style intermediate championship.
The ladies started off strong with a good win over local rivals Truagh, which seen senior championship debuts for a number of girls. The ladies added to their winning streak with a confident win over Donaghamoyne B. Next to face the ladies were Magheracloone. Following a misunderstanding, the game was called off and the fixture rescheduled, moving the girls fixed game against the Harps back a week. The ladies started off poorly against a strong Magheracloone side and faced a brave comeback in the second half. In a thrilling second half and some brilliant play by Scotstown the ladies narrowly missed out on placing a spot in the final by one point in the closing minutes of the game. Finishing the year off on a high, the ladies played Monaghan Harps last week and finished strongly with a comfortable win.
It was an encouraging year for the ladies under new management. It was great to see such a large panel of girls eager to play football, making training sessions, bonding activities and games that much better. With a strong calibre of young ladies coming through, the ladies are confident in returning strongly to the intermediate division next year. Thank you to all the girls for their brave efforts this year, to the management for their efforts and commitment and to parents and supporters for showing their continued support to the ladies team. The senior ladies team and management would like to take this opportunity in wishing the minor girls all the best in their final.

2020 Monaghan Club Senior and Juvenile Championships – Attendance at future games.
On Tuesday last the Government released their Plan for Living with Covid-19 document which outlines the current restrictions we are under. In relation to sport, he Government has announced that, from Wednesday 16th September, crowds of 200 people will be allowed to attend GAA matches where the capacity of the stadium is over 5,000. GAA grounds with a capacity of less than 5,000 may hold matches with an attendance of up to 100 people. These numbers do NOT include the players, backroom team, officials, media etc. Outdoor training can take place in pods of up to 15, though senior club championship teams and inter-county teams can train together in greater numbers. All of these guidelines are under Level 2 of the government long-term plan for Covid-19. If the virus is suppressed sufficiently in individual counties, then they will be permitted to move to Level 1 which would allow crowds of up to 500 in a stadium which holds over 5,000. If the virus is not sufficiently controlled in an individual county then that county would move back to Level 3 which would mean only inter-county and senior club championship matches would be permitted, and those would be played behind closed doors.
Please note that our GAA indoor facilities including dressing rooms, social club, gyms etc. will remained closed until further notice. This is in accordance with the GAA's Covid Advisory Group's guidelines. Whenever we are given more clarity on the indoor guidelines to enable us to give definitive dates of resumption of any of our indoor activities and facilities, we will update you here, on Social Media and on our Clubforce app. The new government guidelines are in place from September 16th as long as we remain in Level 2 or under. Thanks for your understanding and patience during these challenging and uncertain times.
