2020 Monaghan Club Senior and Juvenile Championship – Attendance at future games.
Last week the GAA Covid Advisory group issued an update in response to the latest government restrictions on outdoor gatherings and sporting events and matches can continue to take place but behind closed doors with:
· strict avoidance of gatherings, including social gatherings, before or after events
· strict adherence to 2 metre physical distancing before and after events, during breaks in play, on the sidelines and avoidance of team huddles
· limits of 15 apply to groups outside including training sessions (with exception of elite/professional sports and horseracing). There should be no mixing between groups
The additional implications of the above for Gaelic Games are as follows:
Games behind closed doors as games must now be played “behind closed doors”, this means only essential personnel should be in attendance. No more than 40 persons per team should be allowed access to games for the moment. This figure should include all players, management, coaches, ancillary backroom personnel and officials.
The 80 team personnel (40 per team) is in addition to essential match day personnel such as Match officials (Referees, Linesmen, Umpires), Media, Streaming personnel and required event officials (stewards etc.)
Underage games Consistent with the new guidelines of Wednesday, August 19th, the Government have confirmed Parents/Guardians attending training or games in a safeguarding /supervisory capacity are NOT classified as spectators; however strict social distancing and public health guidelines should be adhered to at all times. In that context, one parent/guardian per child is permitted to attend at a sporting event, including a game or training session, should they consider it necessary.
Any person wishing to attend our underage training or games including coaches, parents, players and spectators shall be subject to the provisions of the Code of Behaviour (Underage).
The new government guidelines are in place to September 13th. Any further updates from the GAA Covid Advisory Group will be posted on our Social Media and Clubforce platforms. Thanks for your understanding and patience during these challenging and uncertain times.

GAA Revised ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ Guidance and our continuing community help
Next week we move into September and we were hoping to also move into Phase 4 of the Government’s Reopening the country’s roadmap. Unfortunately, as outlined above, new restrictions have superseded this and are now in place until September 13th, and any changes will be posted as soon as we are informed. Please keep in mind that the virus is still out there and to maintain the Covid 19 guidelines. The GAA has issued a revised statement regarding its own guidelines of reopening for us, which are already in effect. This included for pitches to reopen for training and competitive football only. This is on the understanding that players and all participants have completed the eLearning module and are following the control measures in place (health questionnaire etc) and is on the basis of a maximum of 15 players in a designated area of the field. Until at least 13th September all games are behind closed doors.
Please note that our GAA indoor facilities including dressing rooms, club shop, social club, gyms etc. will remained CLOSED until further notice. This is in accordance with the GAA's Covid Advisory Group's guidelines. Whenever we are given the guidelines to enable us to give definitive dates of resumption of any of our activities and facilities, we will update you here and on our Clubforce app. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
We would also like to continue and reinforce our message that we are here to help. Scotstown GAA would like to reassure those in our community that we are still here to help, even as we slowly unwind this notice here. Football is nothing without its people and the community past and future.
Thanks to everyone for maintain their patience and discipline with the current guidelines on the limits attendance and respecting the rules. Please keep continuing to follow the HSE and government guidelines on staying safe, washing hands and social distancing, outdoors as well as indoors and for being patient during this time. Many thanks to all our volunteers involved.
