Last week was the final round of fixtures for our U12 girls teams. Thanks to Damian Martin for the following report. Our Division 1 team finished on Wednesday night of last week. The girls won 3 games out of 3 in the preliminary group and 7/7 in Division 1 proper. On Friday night it was the turn of our Division 3 team who lined out against Truagh Gaels on a sunny evening in St Mellon’s. The game matched the weather and both teams served up one of the games of the season. The Scotstown girls edged the game with a strong final quarter. It was a fitting end to a great season for the girls. Our Division 4 team finished their season with a challenge match on Saturday morning in Kilmore. Yet again this bunch of girls showed huge improvement in their performances. They were competitive throughout the season and got loads of football. It was heartening to see the girls play football with a smile on their face and with great enthusiasm and determination.
It has been a great year for U12 girls football in Scotstown. Approximately 41 girls played football throughout the year. We started in the Complex hall in February and went out on to the field in April. The girls played 25 competitive matches and trained once or twice a week depending on matches.
The development of this squad throughout 2024 has been a joy to watch. We thank the parents for their support, encouragement and commitment, we recognise that the girls could not have been brought to pitches all over the county without your time and effort.
