Scotstown GAA Club Notes 25/05/2021
Our Blues in County Football Action
Allianz Division 1 North National Football League
Well done to the Monaghan County senior football team in their thrilling high scoring draw to Donegal 4-11 to 1-20 in a superb encounter in Ballybofey last Saturday, which included a magnificent hat-trick from Conor McCarthy. Their next Division 1 North National Football League game is against Tyrone this Saturday 29th May at 7:30pm in Healy Park Omagh. This is the final game of the group phase and a must win for Monaghan to avoid the relegation playoffs. However a win could also qualify Monaghan for the Sem Finals of the league. Five of our Senior champion blues are involved in the panel. All the best to Rory Beggan, Darren Hughes, Kieran Hughes, Conor McCarthy and Ryan O'Toole; and the rest of the Monaghan team.
2021 Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 2B
Hard luck to the Monaghan ladies in their opening game of the 2021 campaign. They lost to Cavan by 3-11 to 1-10 last Sunday in St Tiernach’s park Clones. They next play Armagh next Sunday May 30th at 2pm in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh. All the best to our Blue Ladies on the panel, Abbie McCarey, Casey Treanor and Edel Corrigan, and the rest of the Monaghan team. Please note these games are behind closed doors as per the Covid-19 restrictions.
Congratulations to Conor McCarthy
Well done Conor McCarthy for an amazing hat-trick in the first half against Donegal and also for being named Man of the Match.
Membership 2021 – Physical Registration at Complex Friday 28th May 8pm
For those who have no online access or prefer to register manually, we will be collecting adult non-player memberships this Friday 28th May at the Complex at 8pm. Please keep in mind the current Covid 19 restrictions. If spectators are allowed to attend games later this summer, there will be a quota system and our club members will have precedence on the limited number of tickets given.
It is important that all players, adult and juvenile are registered as players will not be insured until membership is paid and will not be able to train or play on the pitch.
In light of the Covid 19 Pandemic and its continuing impact on our community and activities we have given a 25% reduction in fees to all members as reflected in this year’s prices. Family discounts will still apply also with €10 being deducted for multiple registrations from the same family (Must be processed all at once).
A parent must register with anyone under the age of 18, therefore you will be required to include an "Adult non-playing" to the basket.
If children are registered without parent being added or if at least 1 Parent/Guardian (GDPR contact) isn't included with a juvenile registration, then we will issue a refund and ask you to register again. Please arrange your membership on our Clubforce Platform, which is linked on our Social Media platforms, if you are not physically registering as outlined above.
Also please note everyone must register before they can play.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. It is encouraging to see these significant developments on the horizon and please keep in mind, the club is still here to help out in our community.
Health and Wellbeing
As the country opens up is encouraging to see more people out and about, (while still keeping pandemic safety in mind), whether its for a walk around Kilmore, training, looking forward to a summer of football and safely meeting people outdoors again and raising their emotional wellbeing. Scotstown GAA is going for the Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. This is a timely initiative for a post Covid-19 world and we look forward to the Healthy Club project in our future and recovery from the pandemic.
We are still here to help
We would still like to reiterate and to continue our message that we are here to help, particularly as, although restrictions are easing, we are still in a pandemic. In light of the ongoing concerns and impacts to our daily lives over Covid-19, Scotstown GAA would like to reassure those in our community that we are here to help. The health and wellbeing of our community is very important at this time and we can phone and have a chat with those that are alone or vulnerable check if they need anything, groceries, medicines, a friendly voice and reassuring chat can help. If you are living away from the parish and have relatives that may need a hand getting in medicines or shopping or simply checking in with them, contact any committee member. Please private message on the Scotstown GAA Facebook page with any other suggestions on how we can help over the next while. We will keep you updated on our Facebook page and we are and will look out for each other. There are Tydavnet Parish Community Health and Wellbeing leaflet of crucial local numbers and contact information for people in our community. These leaflets are going out through the local shops, churches etc. Many thanks to all those involved. As well as our physical health, our emotional wellbeing and mental health is also highly important. In these current circumstances, it is important to remember that the community supports and services are still operating. Your GP is your first point of contact in relation to both physical and mental health needs. If you, or someone you know is in crisis, contact your GP or Doc on Call on 1850 777 911, or if you are really concerned go to the Emergency Department in Cavan General Hospital. Please see our social media platforms for Local Support and Services available with contact details.
Phone a Ceili
With high Level restrictions ongoing, physically visiting people is not allowed. But we can still make contact with those we care about and / or are cocooning, living alone or vulnerable. They would really appreciate a phone call, letter or card just to say "I'm thinking about you, keep safe and stay strong." So please, Phone a Ceili, write a Letter, send a Card and keep in touch over the winter months and we are always here to help in anyway. We ask all our committee members and players to phone a ceili twice a week. If you would like a committee member or player to phone you, please contact our Chairman Shane on 086 836 7997.
