Congratulations to the Under 12 Boys C Team in the U12 Division 6 league Cup win
A massive congratulations to our Under 12 Boys C team and management in their League Cup win on Saturday of last week in the final of the Under 12 League Competition Division 6 against Castleblayney in Doohamlet. Thanks to Éanna Finlay for the report below.
Scotstown Under Twelves played out a tough battle against Castleblayney in the Under Twelve Division Six final on Saturday morning in Doohamlet. Blayney started the match very strongly and only for some resolute defending from the Scotstown full backs, James Kildea and Rain O'Neill and a super save from goalkeeper, Frankie Cosgrove they would have had a few early scores on the board.
Scotstown started to settle into the game well, and 3 nice quick passing moves resulted in goals from Oliver Rooney , Matthew Lawrence and Liam Treanor to put Scotstown ahead by 3-0 to 0-1 after 15minutes. With Scotstown's midfield pair of Cillian Corrigan and Marcus Connolly doing a great job of holding Blayney's strong runners, Scotstown got a great foothold in the game and added points from Eoghan Finlay, Marcus Connolly, Oisin Finlay and Oliver Rooney to give themselves a halftime lead of 3-5 to 0-2.
Blayney as expected, came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and got a quick goal and a couple of points to bring them back within touching distance of Scotstown. With Blayney really trying to throw everything at Scotstown, Scotstown's half back line with Gavin Treanor and Daithi McCrudden really started to have a big influence in the game. Intercepting and mopping up numerous Blayney attacks, and really starting to put Scotstown on on the front foot in the game again. With fresh legs coming on in the second half for Scotstown in the form of James Sherry James Murray, Henry Caufield, Ryan McKenna and Liam Rafferty, they added points from Ryan McQuaid and Gavin Treanor and goals from Cillian Corrigan and Oisin Finlay to give themselves some breathing space. Blayney put in another late surge towards the end of the game put Scotstown held firm to run out well deserved winners on a scoreline of 3-7 to 1-8.
There was plenty of cheering and celebrations all round as Scotstown captain James Kildea accepted the trophy from County Board officer Majella Boyd.
Big thank you to the games referee Cormac Lennon and his linesmen and the Doohamlet club for hosting the game. Team: Frankie Cosgrove; Rian O’Neill; James Kildea (C); Eoghan Finlay; Gavin Treanor; Daithi McCrudden; Marcus Connolly; Cillian Corrigan; Ryan McQuaid; Oisin Finlay; Bobby Connolly; Oliver Rooney; James Sherry; Liam Rafferty; Henry Caulfield; Ryan McKenna; James Murray; Matthew Lawrence; Caleb Mulligan; Rhys Mulligan.

This will follow up on the vast, brilliant and immense work the late Bernie Sherry implemented in our club as the Healthy Club officer achieving Silver Healthy club officer.
Early in the year we continued the Make a Ceili initiative which was launched before Christmas. In January / February saw the start of the Operation Transformation walk, the Scotstown Ladies hosted a Women’s Health talk, a drugs and Alcohol awareness workshop with our coaches, and we had several card nights during the first quarter. During May we had the Hello How are you? Campaign and in August, a community event after the Blessing of the Graves. We will update future initiatives here.
