Latest Update - June 28th
Our gates opened on Wednesday, June 24th, and our adults have been out training. From Saturday 27th June our minors and juveniles can train at our facilities. Please keep mind the following;
1. The indoor buildings remain closed.
2. Please use the outdoor set of toilets
3. Only outdoor facilities can be used
4. Only people that are training are allowed on the pitch.
"GET IN, TRAIN, GET OUT!"
5. Please remember the 3 C's - Avoid Crowds, Avoid Closed Spaces, Avoid Close Contact

The following changes to the return to activity guidelines are being made after recommendations made by the Covid-19 Advisory Committee. These changes were subsequently endorsed by the GAA, the Camogie Association and the LGFA.
This week:
Coaching numbers for underage teams to be consistent with Code of Behaviour. Recommendations were made by the Covid-19 Advisory Committee this morning.
From June 29th:
The Advisory Committee is considering the position in relation to other GAA buildings (such as Club bars that are serving food, Gyms, Handball alleys etc). 50th anniversary event of the 1974 Senior County Championship winning team
There will be social event this Saturday evening, 7th September, in the Scotstown GAA Social Club to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Senior County Championship win by the Scotstown team of 1974. The event starts shortly after the Scotstown v Corduff game (Throw in 6:00pm). There will be interviews with some of the 1974 squad and light refreshments. Everyone welcome and please feel free to drop in and enjoy the reminiscence of that era by some of the squad players.
Our Blues Competitive Games in the past week
Under 14s
On a sunny summers day at noon last Saturday in Páirc Mhuire our Under 14 boys B team played Magheracloone in the Semi Final of the Under 14 Division 5A Championship. Magheracloone started strongly and were leading by 0-3 to 0-1 after 15 minutes before Scotstown scored the first of their goals with a fine effort giving them a 1 point advantage. With 3 minutes remaining of the first half Magheracloone regained the lead by 0-6 to 1-2 before 2 quick brilliant goals by Scotstown gave the Blues a 5 point lead going into half time with a score of 3-2 to 0-6. Magheracloone pressed for scores in the second half but the Scotstown Under 14s showed great composure in defence along with brilliant saves, and the Blues stretched theor lead further adding 10 more well placed points in the second half. Final Score Scotstown 3-12 Magheracloone 0-10. Well done to the team and management and congratulations on making the final. Hard luck and commiserations to Magheracloone.
The Under 14 boys B Team play Monaghan Harps in the Final of the Under 14 Championship Division 5B on Sunday 15th September at 12:00pm. We wish them all the best in the final.
The Under 14 Boys A and C teams had no games in the past week.
Under 16s
The Under 16 Boys teams have completed their 2024 competitive campaigns. Well done to both teams and managements during the year and all the best to the lads moving on to Under 18 minor status and those who will continue to play at Under 16 level next year.
Minors
The Minor B team played Castleblayney in the Final of the Minor Division 5 League Cup on Saturday last in Doohamlet. This was a high scoring game with lots of attacking football despite the hot afternoon sunny weather. Hard luck to the team and management in the 7-17 to 4-7 defeat, but well done on reaching the final after a brilliant league run where the Minor Bs finished top of the Division 5 table. Congratulations to Castleblayney Faughs for winning the final and thanks to Doohamlet for brilliantly hosting the final.
The Scotstown Minor boys A team had no games in the past week. The Minor A team were drawn in the U18 Division 1 Group 2 along with Monaghan Harps, Clontibret and Carrickmacross and won their Round 1 game against Monaghan Harps. They next play Clontibret away this Saturday 7th September in Round 1 of the Under 18 Minor Championship Division 1 Group 2 at 12:00pm.
The Scotstown B team are drawn to play Monaghan Harps in the Semi Final of the Under 18 Championship Division 4 and that game is on Saturday 14th September at 2:00pm. We wish the teams and management the very best in their championship campaigns.
Senior Men
Our Senior Men had no games in the past week. The Senior men next play Corduff at home in Round 4 of the Greenfield Foods Monaghan Senior Football Championship Group 1 on Saturday 7th September at 6:00pm.
Junior Men
Our Junior Men had no games in the past week. Our Junior men next play Drumhowan at home in Round 4 of the Junior Football Championship Group 2 this Sunday 1st September at 2:00pm.
Junior Division 3B Reserves
The Junior Division 3B Reserves had no games in the past week and have qualified for the Reserve Division 3B League Cup final against Truagh. The final is scheduled for September.
Under 12 Boys League Competition
Well done to our Under 12 Boys A team in their 6-12 to 4-11 win against Donaghmoyne away in Round 9 of the U12 Division 1 League Competition on Tuesday of last week. Our Under 12 Boys A team next play Magheracloone away in the Semi Final of the U12 Division 1 League Competition this Friday 6th September at 6:45pm.
Our Under 12 Boys B and C teams had no games in the past week.
Senior Ladies
The Senior Ladies Championship continued last weekend with Round 3 games. The Ladies travelled to Clontibret to play O’Neill Shamrocks on Saturday last for Round 3 of the Senior Ladies Championship. Hard luck in their narrow 1-12 to 3-5 defeat, with a goal from O’Neill Shamrocks in injury time securing their win. The Ladies next play Corduff in the Senior Championship relegation playoff. Date, time and venue TBC.
Under 18 Minor Girls
The Minor girls had their quarter final replay against Aughnamullen in the U18 Division 1 Championship on Thursday last. Although not as high scoring as the first game, this certainly was as exciting and entertaining game of football as the original. Aughnamullen had the lead for most of the game and led by 4 points with 15 minutes remaining of the game with a score line of 1-8 to 0-7. Within 4 minutes Scotstown took a 2 point lead with a brilliant goal and 3 well placed points to set up a nail-biting final 10 minutes, where no further points were exchanged between the sides. Scotstown sealed the win with a fine point deep into injury time with a final score of 1-11 to 1-8. Well done to the team and management. The U18 minor girls next play Magheracloone away in the semi final of the U18 Division 1 Championship this Thursday 5th September at 6:30pm.
Under 16 Girls
Our U16 girls A team played Latton away in the Under 16 Division 1 Championship semi-final on Monday last. Well done to the girls in their win and qualifying for the U16 Division 1 Championship final where they will face Magheracloone. We wish them all the best in the final. Our U16 girls B team had no games in the past week. Our U16 girls B Team next play Carrickmacross away in the Under 16 Division 2 League semi final replay this Wednesday 4th September at 6:30pm.

Under 12 Girls
Our Under 12 girls continued their proper leagues during the past week with Round 6 games.
Well done to the U12 girls A team in their win against Carrickmacross away in Round 6 of the U12 Division 1 League proper on Wednesday last. The U12 girls A team next play O’Neill Shamrocks at home in Round 7 of the U12 Division 1 League proper this Wednesday 4th September at 6:45pm. The U12 girls B team played Monaghan Harps at home in Páirc Mhuire in Round 5 of the U12 Division 3 League proper on Friday. Well done in their win. The U12 girls B team next play Tyholland at home in Round 6 of the U12 Division 3 League proper this Friday 30th August at 6:45pm. The U12 girls C team had no games in the past week.

2024 Monaghan Club Football Championships
The 2024 LGFA Championships continues this weekend while the men’s championships have a week’s break.
In the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship, our senior men drew Aughnamullen, Ballybay, Corduff and Cremartin. and are in Group 1. The fixtures are; Saturday 10th August at 7:00pm home to Ballybay (W 0-12 to 0-7); Sunday 18th August at 2:00pm away to Aughnamullen (W 1-12 to 0-9); Saturday 8th September home to Corduff and Sunday 15th September at 5:00pm away to Cremartin.
In the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship, our Junior Men drew Aghabog, Drumhowan, Éire Óg, and Sean McDermotts and are in Group 1. The fixtures are; Saturday 17th August at 7:00pm, home to Éire Og (L 1-10 to 1-6); Sunday 25th August away to Sean McDermotts (W 0-14 to 0-5); Sunday 8th September at 2:00pm home to Drumhowan and Saturday 14th September at 5:30pm away to Aghabog.
In the LGFA CombiLift Senior Ladies Championship, our Senior Ladies drew Donaghmoyne, Emmett Óg and O’Neill Shamrocks and are in Group B. The Fixtures are; Saturday 10th August at 4:30pm, home to Emyvale (L 4-17 to 3-13); Sunday 25th August, away to Donaghmoyne (L 0-8 to 0-2); Saturday 31st August, away to O’Neill Shamrocks (L 1-12 to 3-5).

Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €7,600

Health and Wellbeing
Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve.
Early in the year we continued the Make a Ceili initiative which was launched before Christmas. In January / February saw the start of the Operation Transformation walk, the Scotstown Ladies hosted a Women’s Health talk, a drugs and Alcohol awareness workshop with our coaches, and we had several card nights during the first quarter. During May we had the Hello How are you? Campaign and in August, a community event after the Blessing of the Graves.
