Latest Update - June 28th
Our gates opened on Wednesday, June 24th, and our adults have been out training. From Saturday 27th June our minors and juveniles can train at our facilities. Please keep mind the following;
1. The indoor buildings remain closed.
2. Please use the outdoor set of toilets
3. Only outdoor facilities can be used
4. Only people that are training are allowed on the pitch.
"GET IN, TRAIN, GET OUT!"
5. Please remember the 3 C's - Avoid Crowds, Avoid Closed Spaces, Avoid Close Contact

The following changes to the return to activity guidelines are being made after recommendations made by the Covid-19 Advisory Committee. These changes were subsequently endorsed by the GAA, the Camogie Association and the LGFA.
This week:
Coaching numbers for underage teams to be consistent with Code of Behaviour. Recommendations were made by the Covid-19 Advisory Committee this morning.
From June 29th:
The Advisory Committee is considering the position in relation to other GAA buildings (such as Club bars that are serving food, Gyms, Handball alleys etc). Our Blues Competitive Games in the past week
Under 14s
Our Under 14 boys A and B teams had no games in the past week. The Under 14 boys B Team next play Magheracloone at home in the Semi Final of the Under 14 Cup Competition Division 5B this Saturday 31st August at 12:00pm. Hard luck to the Under 14 boys C team in their 2-15 to 5-5 narrow defeat to Magheracloone away in Round 5 of the Under 14 Cup Competition Division 5B on Thursday of last week.
Under 16s
The Under 16 Boys had no games in the past week.
Minors
On Tuesday of last week our Under 18 Scotstown A minor team played Truagh in the U18 Division 1 League Cup Final in Emyvale. This was a top quality game and the 2 finalists provided an exciting, enthralling and brilliant spectacle of football. Hard luck to our Minor team and management in losing by 4-2 on penalties after an extra time score of 1-16 to 2-13, but well done on reaching the final and putting in an excellent performance with brilliant scores. Congratulations to Truagh on winning the final and thanks to Emyvale for hosting. Our minors next played in the Championship which started on Monday. The Scotstown A team were drawn in the U18 Division 1 Group 2 along with Monaghan Harps, Clontibret and Carrickmacross. The Scotstown A team first game was against Monaghan Harps at home on Monday last in Round 1 of the Under 18 Minor Championship Division 1 Group 2. Well done in their 2-12 to 1-8 win. They next play Clontibret away on Saturday 7th September in Round 1 of the Under 18 Minor Championship Division 1 Group 2 at 12:00pm.
The Scotstown B team are drawn to play Monaghan Harps in the Semi Final of the Under 18 Championship Division 4 and that game is on Saturday 14th September at 2:00pm. We wish the teams and management the very best in their championship campaigns. The Minor B team next play Castleblayney in the Final of the Minor Division 5 League Cup this Saturday 31st August at 5:00pm in Cremartin. We wish them all the best in the final.
Senior Men
Our Senior Men had no games in the past week. The Senior men next play Corduff at home in Round 4 of the Greenfield Foods Monaghan Senior Football Championship Group 1 on Saturday 7th September at 6:00pm.
Junior Men
Our Junior Men continued their Championship campaign with the round 3 game of the Universal Graphics Junior Championship on Sunday last away to Sean McDermotts on an unseasonal gusty afternoon. Well done to the team and management in their 0-14 to 0-5 win in inclement weather. The Blues sought to optimise their wind advantage in the first half and took a 0-4 to 0-1 point lead after 15 minutes with brilliant points from Caolan Foy (from free), Adam Monahan, Cian Mohan (from 45), and Seanie Mohan (from free). However given the strength of the wind the Blues pushed on to increase their advantage with the second half in mind and added to their tally with further fine scores by Seanie Mohan (3 from free) and Aaron McCarey (1 from play, 1 from mark) making the half time score 0-9 to 0-1. During the second half the Blues played against the breeze, but through good possession managed increase their advantage further after 15 minutes with a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-3 thanks to 3 well placed points by Seanie Mohan (2 from free). James McElwain added a brilliant point with 10 minutes to go, before Sean McDermotts scored 2 more points. The Blues defended well and a well placed point by Ryan Caulfield deep into injury time finished up the game with a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-5. Well done to the team and management. Our Junior men next play Drumhowan at home in Round 4 of the Junior Football Championship Group 2 on Sunday 1st September at 2:00pm.
Junior Division 3B Reserves
The Junior Division 3B Reserves had no games in the past week and have qualified for the Reserve Division 3B League Cup final. The final is scheduled for September.
Under 12 Boys League Competition
Our Under 12 A boys had no games in the past week. Our Under 12 Boys A team next play Donaghmoyne away in Round 9 of the U12 Division 1 League Competition this Tuesday 27th August at 6:45pm. Well done to our Under 12 Boys B team in their win against Truagh away in Round 7 of the U12 Division 4 League Competition on Sunday last. Well done to our Under 12 Boys C team in their 4-17 to 4-7 win against Inniskeen at home in Round 9 of the U12 Division 6 League Competition on Saturday last.
Senior Ladies
The Senior Ladies Championship continued last weekend with Round 2 games. The Ladies travelled to the current County champions Donaghmoyne on Sunday last for Round 2 of the Senior Ladies Championship. Hard luck in their 0-8 to 0-2 defeat in inclement weather conditions. The Ladies next play O’Neill Shamrocks away this Saturday 31st August in Round 3 of the Senior Ladies Championship at 6:30pm.
Under 18 Minor Girls
The Minor girls started their Championship campaign last week against Aughnamullen in the quarter final of the U18 Division 1 Championship on Thursday last. Well done in their 5-10 to 3-16 draw in a gripping and brilliant game. The U18 minor girls next play Aughnamullen at home in the replay of the quarter final of the U18 Division 1 Championship this Thursday 29th August at 6:45pm.
Under 16 Girls
The Under 16 girls A team had no games in the past week. Our U16 girls A team next play Latton away in the Under 16 Division 1 Championship semi-final on Monday 2nd September at 6:30pm. Our U16 girls B team played Monaghan Harps away in the Under 16 Division 2 Championship quarter final on Tuesday last. Hard luck in their 1-9 to 2-2 defeat.

Our Under 14 girls had no games in the past week. Our U14 girls A team next play Castleblayney or Donaghmoyne away in the Under 14 Division 1 Championship semi-final on Monday 9th September at 7:00pm.
Under 12 Girls
Our Under 12 girls continued their proper leagues during the past week with Round 5 games.
Well done to the U12 girls A team in their win against Donaghmoyne away in Round 5 of the U12 Division 1 League proper on Wednesday last. The U12 girls A team next play Carrickmacross away in Round 6 of the U12 Division 1 League proper this Wednesday 28th August at 6:45pm. The U12 girls B team played Monaghan Harps at home in Páirc Mhuire in Round 5 of the U12 Division 3 League proper on Friday. Hard luck in their defeat. The U12 girls B team next play Tyholland at home in Round 6 of the U12 Division 3 League proper this Friday 30th August at 6:45pm. Hard luck to the U12 girls C team in their defeat against Brigid / O’Neills in Round 5 of the U12 Division 3 League proper on Saturday last.

2024 Monaghan Club Football Championships
The 2024 LGFA Championships continues this weekend while the men’s championships have a week’s break.
In the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship, our senior men drew Aughnamullen, Ballybay, Corduff and Cremartin. and are in Group 1. The fixtures are; Saturday 10th August at 7:00pm home to Ballybay (W 0-12 to 0-7); Sunday 18th August at 2:00pm away to Aughnamullen (W 1-12 to 0-9); Saturday 8th September home to Corduff and Sunday 15th September at 5:00pm away to Cremartin.
In the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship, our Junior Men drew Aghabog, Drumhowan, Éire Óg, and Sean McDermotts and are in Group 1. The fixtures are; Saturday 17th August at 7:00pm, home to Éire Og (L 1-10 to 1-6); Sunday 25th August away to Sean McDermotts (W 0-14 to 0-5); Sunday 8th September at 2:00pm home to Drumhowan and Saturday 14th September at 5:30pm away to Aghabog.
In the LGFA CombiLift Senior Ladies Championship, our Senior Ladies drew Donaghmoyne, Emmett Óg and O’Neill Shamrocks and are in Group B. The Fixtures are; Saturday 10th August at 4:30pm, home to Emyvale (L 4-17 to 3-13); Sunday 25th August, away to Donaghmoyne (L 0-8 to 0-2); Saturday 31st August at 6:30pm, away to O’Neill Shamrocks.

Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €7,400
Thanks to everyone involved in our online lotto draw for a €7,200 jackpot on Wednesday 21st August. Please see our Social Media platforms for more details of the results.
In the August 21st draw, there was NO Jackpot winner. Numbers drawn on the night were 5, 10, 14, 23. There were NO match 3 winners. We had 4 Lucky Dip winners, Tara Leddy, Bernadette Mohan, Amanda McKenna, and Damien Stirrat who win €25 each. Congratulations to all our winners! The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. There are 4 numbers to choose from a range of 1 to 31. Match the 4 numbers to win the Jackpot of €7,400. If no jackpot winner €200 is rolled over to the following week. Also if there is no jackpot winner there will be lucky dips. Next draw is Wednesday September 4th at 8:30pm.
Ciste Draw
The August Ciste draw will take place this Sunday night, September 1st at 10:00pm, in the Social Club. You can purchase your Ciste tickets in our local shops. There are tickets, envelopes and collection boxes in each of these shops; McMahon Centra, Scotstown; XL Ballinode & Killylough, and McAloon’s Knockatallon. You can also purchase your Ciste tickets using the Scotstown Clubforce website and clicking on ‘buy event tickets’ link. First prize €1,000 and 5 prizes of €100 must be won. In total €18,000 in prize money is won every year!

Our Condolences
Scotstown GAA wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Caolan Finnegan, and all those in the communities and connected to his club, Crossmaglen Rangers and Armagh GAA on the untimely passing of Caolan. Health and Wellbeing
Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve.
Early in the year we continued the Make a Ceili initiative which was launched before Christmas. In January / February saw the start of the Operation Transformation walk, the Scotstown Ladies hosted a Women’s Health talk, a drugs and Alcohol awareness workshop with our coaches, and we had several card nights during the first quarter. During May we had the Hello How are you? Campaign.
Heritage Talk in the complex
A talk/presentation by Seán Corr on "A Century of Scotstown: Connecting with a village history through Valuation records, 1860-1960.” took place in the Scotstown Complex on Friday last. This was part of National Heritage Week 2024, and the event outlined the history of the village over a century, using the Valuation Revision books. The event was well attended and well done to Seán and everyone else involved in an brilliant event on local history.

Community Water Day in Kilmore
On Friday last there was a Community Water Day on Scotstown Blue Dot River in Kilmore. This involved a family fun day of exploring the biodiversity of a Blue Dot river and getting up close to the bugs, fish and plants that live in the high quality Scotstown River. Well done to everyone involved.
