Senior Men
The 2024 Greenfield Foods Senior Championship Round 2 games took place last weekend.
Our Senior Men’s second game was against Aughnamullen away last Sunday in Round 2 of
Group 1. Aughnamullen started the game with all the possession, but a fine point from
distance by Scotstown after 8 minutes broke the deadline. Scotstown increased their lead
further with 3 more well placed points and a brilliant goal after 15 minutes giving a score line
of 1-4 to 0-0. Aughnamullen pulled a point back, but Scotstown made use of the significant
wind advantage and added more fine points leaving a scoreline at half time of Scotstown 1-8
to 0-1. Aughnamullen responded strongly in the second half and with the wind advantage
landed six scores on the trot without reply, leaving just 4 points between the sides at 1-8 to
0-7 with still over 15 minutes of injury time remaining. Scotstown held their nerve and scored
2 well placed points against the difficult wind to extend the lead to 6, before Aughnamullen
scored 2 further points to reduce their margin back to 2 points with 2 minutes remaining,
setting up a nailbiting finish. Scotstown again held their nerve and scored 2 points in injury
time to secure the win with a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-9. Well done to the team and

Aaron McCarey. A brilliant point from play from distance by Cian Mohan restored the 1 point
margin lead with 10 minutes remaining of the first half and a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-4. However
Éire Og responded strongly and took the lead going into half time with a scoreline of 0-6 to
1-2. Scotstown started the second half brightly and a fine point by James McElwain levelled
the game again. However shortly after Éire Óg scored a decisive goal and took a 4 point
lead, which they sustained for the rest of the game, despite strong pressure from Scotstown,
who added 3 more well placed points, one each from Seanie Mohan, Joseph McKenna and
Fergal Sherlock giving a final score of Scotstown 1-6 Éire Óg 1-10. Hard luck to the team
and management. Our Junior men next play Sean McDermotts away in Round 3 of the
