Scotstown GAA Club Notes. 23/06/2020
Big Big Drive-In Bingo coming in July at Kilmore: €7,500 in prizes
You’ve heard of drive-in movies and drive-through fast food outlets, but have you
heard of a drive-in bingo? Summer 2020 is looking a lot different than what we
envisaged earlier in the year with measures still in place to combat the spread of
Covid-19 and a ban on mass gatherings of events. A drive-in bingo is an opportunity
to have a large community event from the safety of your own car. All you have to do
is drive in, turn off your engine and buy a bingo book. If you get a line, simply beep
your horn! Total prizes €7,500 with a jackpot of €3,000. We are holding this event at
the Kilmore Training grounds in mid July. Please see the Facebook event and our
Clubforce platform for more details. Beep beep!
GAA Revised ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ Guidance and entering Phase 3 of
the Roadmap
Last Friday, the government announced this a revised accelerated Phase 3 of the
Roadmap to general reopening of society, effective from next Monday 29 th June. This
is a welcome development and reflects the improving situation in our fight against
the Covid 19 Pandemic. The following day the GAA issued a revised statement
regarding its own guidelines of reopening for us to follow.
This allows for pitches to reopen on Wednesday 24 th June for Adult training only.
Then, this Saturday 27 th June pitches are available for minors and below.
Both of the above on a non-contact basis and on the understanding that players and
all participants have completed the eLearning module and are following the control
measures in place (health questionnaire etc) and is on the basis of a maximum of 15
players in a designated area of the field.
The key points, guidelines and earliest reopening dates in this document cover:
Walkways on GAA pitches (gradual reopening commenced 8 th June, fully reopen 29 th
June)
Club gates re-opening (Expected 29 th June at earliest)
Juvenile and adult club championship games commencing (Decision next week, Late
July at the earliest)
Inter-county training to commence on 14 September
The inter-county calendar will commence from 17 October
The Advisory Committee is considering the position in relation to other GAA
buildings (such as Club bars that are serving food, Gyms, Handball alleys etc).
Guidance will be provided in this context before June 29th. We are currently
formulating possible means and approximate dates of return to all our activities and
facilities, in consultation with these documents, Monaghan GAA and other
stakeholders. We will keep you informed and up to date on the reopening of all our
activities and facilities as soon as we can confirm them. Please download our
Clubforce app to receive direct messages of the activities and events dates as we
are enabled to confirm them definitively. We will also notify the developments
through the club notes and our Social Media platforms. Please note, our community
assistance will still continue on and we thank you for your patience and
understanding as we work out our own road map to fully reopening. Watch this
space, Stay Safe. An Bhoth Abu.

Our continuing community help and assistance through Phase 3
As we move on towards the end of June and into phase 3 next Monday, we would
like to continue and reinforce our message that we are here to help. In light of the
ongoing concerns and impacts to our daily lives over Covid-19, since March,
Scotstown GAA would like to reassure those in our community that we are still here
to help. The health and wellbeing of our community is very important at this time and
we can phone and have a chat with those that are alone or vulnerable check if they
need anything, groceries, medicines, a friendly voice and reassuring chat can help.
If you are living away from the parish and have relatives that may need a hand
getting in medicines or shopping or simply checking in with them, contact Cormac on
087 6504979 or any committee member. Please private message on the Scotstown
GAA Facebook page with any other suggestions on how we can help over the next
while. We will keep you updated on our Facebook page and we are and will look out
for each other. As stated elsewhere in these notes there are leaflets with crucial local
numbers and information available throughout the parish.
Please continue to follow the HSE and government guidelines which are frequently
posted. We are moving into Phase 3 of the Revised Roadmap of Reopening the
Country next Monday 29 th June and all being well GAA activities can commence in
line with ‘Safe Return’ plan (as outlined above). We would also like to praise and
thank the front-line staff in the services during this time and all the goodwill that is
happening in our community. Thanks everyone for abiding by the stay at home,
washing hands and social distancing guidelines and for being patient during this
time.
Also, an appropriate version in these times for our Making Your Céili initiative is
“Phone your Céili”. We ask that all in the club to be conscious of all the venerable
and vulnerable people in our parish and not to assume that someone else will think
of them. Please check in on people over the phone, but please be mindful that if are
you visiting people, you can only meet up to six people from outside your household
both indoors and outdoors for social gatherings. Please also keep practicing social
distancing.
There are Tydavnet Parish Community Health and Wellbeing leaflet of crucial local
numbers and contact information for people in our community. These leaflets are
going out through the local shops, churches etc. Many thanks to all our volunteers
involved. Remember to keep washing your hands, adhere to social distancing and
follow all HSE guidelines. Please keep up your good work, your collective cop-on
and patience, we are getting through this and thanks.

reopening map. We will post the guidelines as soon as they are available.
Shave or Dye Monaghan Players challenge for Charity
During the past couple of weeks the Monaghan team and management launched
their Shave or Dye fundraising campaign for the Holy Family School Cootehill and
Monaghan Cancer services. On the Monaghan GAA Facebook page, several
members of the team have offered their heads of hair for either shaving or dyeing.
Last week our Blues Rory Beggan and David McCague featured and joined our other
Blues from the previous week; Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Kieran Hughes, Conor
McCarthy and Barry McKenna. This week on the Monaghan GAA page they are
showing the results of each of the participants, so you can see the implications of
your votes on their heads! Well done to the lads and everyone else involved!
Thanks to Monaghan GAA
We would like to thank Monaghan GAA for all their updates, keeping us informed
and for sharing some our posts on their Social Media platform.
To the resumption of Football and meeting other clubs
We can now look forward to a schedule of fixtures and we hope that play can
resume as planned for in August. We hope all other clubs are keeping well and safe
and we look forward to seeing and playing you all again.
