Scotstown GAA Club Notes 30/06/2020
Big Big Drive-In Bingo Sunday 12th July at Kilmore: €7,500 in prizes
You’ve heard of drive-in movies and drive-through fast food outlets, but have you heard of a drive-in bingo? Summer 2020 is looking a lot different than what we envisaged earlier in the year with measures still in place to combat the spread of Covid-19 and a ban on mass gatherings of events. A drive-in bingo is an opportunity to have a large community event from the safety of your own car. All you have to do is drive in, turn off your engine and buy a bingo book. If you get a line, simply beep your horn! Total prizes €7,500 with a jackpot of €3,000. We are holding this event at the Kilmore Training grounds on Sunday 12th July at 3pm. Beep Beep!
Event starts at 3pm. Please arrive early!
Single Book costs €20, Double Book €30
Bank Card Payment accepted
Cars only please, no minibuses or pedestrians.
This Drive-In Bingo is a vital fundraiser for the club and all funds raised from the bingo goes directly back into the club and all support is greatly appreciated. During the pandemic lockdown the club’s means of raising funds have been severely curtailed and this event along with our online lotto is a practical but fun way of supporting our club!
Any member who wishes to volunteer can do so by giving their details to any club officer.
Please see our Facebook Event page on the link below and share and invite your friends on Facebook!

GAA Revised ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ Guidance and entering Phase 3 of the Roadmap
We have now successfully entered the revised accelerated Phase 3 of the Roadmap to general reopening of society, effective from Monday 29th June. This is a welcome development and reflects the improving situation in our fight against the Covid 19 Pandemic. The GAA issued a revised statement regarding its own guidelines of reopening for us, some of which are already in effect. This included for pitches to reopen on Wednesday 24th June for Adult training only. Then, on Saturday 27th June pitches were open for minors and below (see separate note below). This is on the understanding that players and all participants have completed the eLearning module and are following the control measures in place (health questionnaire etc) and is on the basis of a maximum of 15 players in a designated area of the field.
The Advisory Committee is considering the position in relation to other GAA buildings (such as Club bars that are serving food, Gyms, Handball alleys etc). Please download our Clubforce app to receive direct messages of the activities and events dates as we are enabled to confirm them definitively. We will also notify the developments through the club notes and our Social Media platforms. Please note, our community assistance will still continue on and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we work out our own road map to fully reopening. Watch this space, Stay Safe. An Bhoth Abu.

Our continuing community help and assistance through Phase 3
As we move into July and have successfully entered phase 3 from Monday last, we would like to continue and reinforce our message that we are here to help. In light of the ongoing concerns and impacts to our daily lives over Covid-19, since March, Scotstown GAA would like to reassure those in our community that we are still here to help. The health and wellbeing of our community is very important at this time and we can phone and have a chat with those that are alone or vulnerable check if they need anything, groceries, medicines, a friendly voice and reassuring chat can help.
Please continue to follow the HSE and government guidelines which are frequently posted. We have moved into Phase 3 of the Revised Roadmap of Reopening the Country on Monday 29th June last and all being well GAA activities can commence in line with ‘Safe Return’ plan (as outlined above). We would also like to praise and thank the front-line staff in the services during this time and all the goodwill that is happening in our community. Thanks everyone for abiding by the stay at home, washing hands and social distancing guidelines and for being patient during this time. Many thanks to all our volunteers involved. Remember to keep washing your hands, adhere to social distancing and follow all HSE guidelines. Please keep up your good work, your collective cop-on and patience, we are getting through this and thanks.
