Thanks to Scotstown Comhaltas Craobh Éamonn Ó’Muirí for the report below and Laura Treanor from Lavery Photos & Video for the photos on Social media. As Mackie Rooney launched his book, a huge crowd gathered to celebrate this special occasion. Mackie shared some of the captivating stories behind his work, keeping the audience entertained throughout. The night was further enhanced by live music from his amazingly talented children and grandchildren, and our brilliant MC, Seamus McElwain, ensured everything ran smoothly. A huge thanks to Scotstown GAA for the wonderful facilities, and a big thank you to everyone who helped make the night such a success. We are all so proud of you, Mackie - a wonderful occasion for you, Pauline, and all your family! Comhghairdeas, Mackie. A Sliabh Beagh and North-Monaghan Miscellany abounds in folklore which was quite common to an Ireland of former times-a belief in fairies, ghosts, banshees, and superstitions of a malign nature. However, the author has tossed in so many humorous pieces that we can feel assured that he, at least, is not in thrall, to this past, while yet shining a light on the lives of our ancestors. An excellent read and very good value at €40-£35. Outlets for A Sliabh and North-Monaghan Miscellany following the launch: McMahons’ Centra; Martin the Butcher; The Pharmacy; Henry’s Bar;McCarvill’s, Killylough; The Village Shop, Ballinode; McAloon’s, Knockatallon; Emyvale Post Office; Luke Orru, Dunmoran N2; McAnenley Fuels Moy Bridge; Rock’s Stationary Park Street Monaghan; The Braeside Stores, Clonstibret; Katie’s Main St. Castleblayney; McAleers, Eshnadarra P.O.
